Sunny Valley Music Therapy LLC is a small private practice dedicated to serving clients of all ages and abilities in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. We serve diverse individuals and groups in facilities and homes across the Greater Minneapolis–St. Paul area, collaborating with families, schools, aldult day programs, and caregivers. Services are designed to be client-centered, goal-driven, and adaptable to individual needs and abilities.
Role Description
We are seeking an Independent Contractor, Board-Certified Music Therapist, preferably with 1-2+ years of experience providing group music therapy sessions. Your expertise is needed to plan and implement weekly 30-minute small group music therapy sessions (max. 8 participants per group) with elementary school-aged students in special services classrooms in a suburban public school district within the Greater Minneapolis-St.Paul, MN area.
- Flexible schedule.
- Coordinate your own schedule based on input from teacher/staff to determine classroom availability.
- Minimum of 5 sessions per week, 30-minutes each during the school calendar year.
- Potential for future increase in number of sessions to possibly include Adult Group Home or Adult Day Program group sessions, 45-minutes each.
Required Qualifications
- Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)
- Experience planning and implementing small group music therapy sessions
- Proficient in functional music skills (voice, guitar, piano, small percussion)
- Ability to work independently in high-energy environments
- Reliably communicate/reply via email or phone in a timely manner
- Able to transport self and own supplies to and from sessions
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized group music therapy treatment/lesson plans tailored to the clients’ unique needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, chronic illnesses, and other physical or mental health conditions.
- Facilitate and lead engaging small group music therapy sessions, individualized to foster social-emotional expression, communication skills, motor skills, and educational goals as needed, based on the goals, needs, and abilities of the individuals or group.
- Collaborate and coordinate with special education teachers and/or staff periodically to evaluate or re-evaluate individual or group goals and progress.
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment by following all healthcare protocols related to client care and infection control standards.
- Maintain your own supplies, provide your own transportation to sessions, and maintain your own documentation system.
- Must maintain certification as a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)
- Provide proof of up-to-date professional liability insurance.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to client privacy and confidentiality.NOTE: This post is for an Independent Contractor, NOT an employee.
Pay is per session and varies depending on the contract and length of session.
Hourly range: $70.00 - $125.00 per contact hour
