South Texas Community Living is searching for a Full-Time Handy Man / Maintenance Technician in the San Antonio area. STCL operates group homes for individuals with disabilities. These homes require routine and as-needed maintenance. The ideal maintenance technician must be a be able to work autonomously to address maintenance issues with minimal supervision and maximum trustworthiness. In addition, this candidate must have reliable transportation and must have experience with minor home repair/maintenance. In addition to addressing maintenance issues in 10-20 group homes, this person will coordinate outside maintenance services provided by specific experts (e.g., HVAC) for homes and five company vehicles (e.g., oil changes, vehicle repairs).
Starting Wage: $15/Hr. - Based on Experience!
Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm; Monday - Friday
The ideal Maintenance Technician would have experience in any or all of the following areas:

Coordinating inspections, pest-control, etc.

Preparing for and coordinating fire safety inspections by the local Fire Marshall
-
Coordinating routine vehicle maintenance and washing
-
Maintaining organized maintenance records, service contracts, and appliance warranties
-
Yard Maintenance
-
Monthly physical site inspections, with corrections made on the spot (when simple to fix)
-
Painting interior walls (mostly touch-up or single wall)
-
Minor electrical repair
-
Minor drywall repair
-
Minor vehicle service diagnostics
-
Troubleshooting whether the cause of a problem can easily fixed, or might need outside professional support, but might not
-
Basic HVAC problem identification
-
Basic plumbing problem identification
-
Overseeing more complex repairs performed by outside experts (e.g.,, burst pipe during a hard freeze that caused significant damage)
The Handy Man / Maintenance position requires being on-call to respond to maintenance emergencies, either by directly repairing a simple problem (if possible), or coordinating outside repair services (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, major electrical, etc.). – A company cell phone will be provided.
