Position Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, appetizing meals for residents in accordance with physician-ordered diets, facility policies, and state and federal regulations. The Cook ensures food quality, safety, sanitation, and resident satisfaction while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to approved menus and recipes.
- Follow therapeutic and modified diet orders, including texture modifications and special dietary needs.
- Ensure meals are prepared, portioned, and served on schedule.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor food temperatures during cooking, holding, and service.
- Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Store food properly using FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices.
- Assist with receiving, labeling, and storing food deliveries.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas.
- Record production, temperature, and sanitation logs as required.
- Communicate effectively with dietary staff, nursing personnel, and supervisors.
- Report equipment malfunctions, food shortages, and safety concerns promptly.
- Assist with special events and holiday meals as assigned.
- Perform other dietary duties as requested by the Dietary Manager.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
