POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Product Owner plays a key role in software development, responsible for representing the interests of the end-users and stakeholders while ensuring that the development team delivers value to the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate the product vision, ensuring that all stakeholders understand and align with the product goals.
- Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, a dynamic list of features, enhancements, and fixes that need to be implemented.
- Create detailed user stories with acceptance criteria, describing the functionality from the end-user perspective.
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, users, and the development team. Ensure clear communication and understanding of requirements.
- Collaborate with the development team to plan and prioritize releases, considering business priorities and constraints.
- Make informed decisions regarding feature implementation, ensuring that they align with the overall product strategy.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to define acceptance criteria and participate in the acceptance testing process.
- Gather and incorporate feedback from stakeholders and end-users to improve the product continuously.
- Stay informed about market trends, customer needs, and competitor products to make informed decisions about the product roadmap.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of the product.
- Creates, develops, provides, or coordinates system training, materials, and other educational tools.
- Identify and manage risks associated with the product development and release process.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the development team and adapt processes to enhance efficiency.
- Foster collaboration and communication within the team, encouraging a cross-functional and agile mindset.
- Assumes responsibility for all reasonable duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field required
- At least 5-7 years of related experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Jira, Confluence or related software program.
- Strong understanding of Scrum principles and ceremonies, with demonstrated experience participating in sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives within an Agile development environment.
- Extremely organized with great attention to detail.
- Excellent management skills with the ability to lead, facilitate, motivate, and organize.
- Ability to adapt to change.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and to creatively solve new problems.
- Ability to negotiate and settle differences quickly and peacefully.
- Ability to act as a team player.
