As a Dock & Door Technician you will perform scheduled maintenance and simple repairs on (Dock Doors, Dock levelers, Dock Locks, etc) in a timely and thorough manner. Additional Equipment SM Models will be added as skill levels increase as determined by FSM and SMFT or Team Leader. To provide complete customer satisfaction in a polite and professional manner.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Exhibits a professional demeanor and promotes goodwill between the company and customers by providing a superior level of customer service.
- Performs Scheduled Maintenance (SM)on Dock and Doors for contracted customers according to the OEM Manual and company policies and procedures.
- Performs minor repairs found during an SM to ensure optimal uptime of customer equipment.
- Effectively communicates to Team Lead or SMFT, repairs that require follow up from a Level I, II or III technician.
- Follows safety rules and ensures that hazardous waste is disposed of properly.
- Opens and closes work orders with Dispatch, provides scheduled maintenance narratives (written and verbal) for customer, and submits paperwork for time worked and SMs completed in a neat, accurate and timely manner.
- Accounts for 100% of paid time.
- Maintains part inventory and supplies in truck.
- Maintains service truck to ensure that it is clean, organized and hazard free inside and out
- Ensures that regular maintenance is performed on service truck (i.e., oil changes, tire rotations, etc.) and that required repairs are performed.
- Responsible for maintaining tools, personal or company supplied that are required for performing the job effectively and safely.
- Responsible for following customer's safety and housekeeping guidelines when performing repairs at customer site.
- Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Minimum of a high school diploma/GED and/or one to three years mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic experience in a similar environment or equivalent in college or vocational education.
- Excellent people skills and verbal communication is necessary.
- Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting schematics, maps, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Hands-on experience working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and material-handling equipment.
- Proven record of delivering high-quality customer service through professional, courteous, and effective information exchange.
- Consistent demonstration of professional demeanor while building strong customer relationships and delivering superior service.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external customers at all organizational levels.
- Experience interpreting service documentation and training manuals to support maintenance, troubleshooting, and instruction.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages as required for technical and operational tasks.
- Proven ability to follow verbal, written, and demonstrated instructions accurately and safely.
- Demonstrated commitment to staying current with industry innovations and product offerings to make informed recommendations based on customer needs.
- Experience safely operating power tools and equipment such as drills, grinders, presses, forklifts, hoists, overhead cranes, and hand tools in a work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage internal support resources effectively and recognize when escalation or collaboration is appropriate.
- Willingness and capacity to perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
Education & Experience:
