This is a career development position in estimating and project management of special projects, small projects (up to $100,000) and service-related electrical work designed for individuals with an electrical background either through education or experience. We provide hands-on training and mentorship. Within 1–2 years, successful candidates can progress into a professional Electrical Estimator/Project Manager role.
A successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong organizational skills. Other desired traits are the abilitiy to multitask and meet deadlines, communicate with team member and customers and the desire for continued learning.
What You’ll Learn and Do
As your skills develop, responsibilities may include:
- Estimating commercial and industrial electrical projects, including plan/spec and design-build work, special projects (i.e. EV chargers or generator installations) and service related work
- Reading and interpreting architectural, electrical, and construction documents
- Applying the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Minnesota Energy Code
- Preparing proposals and communicating with clients
- Assisting with design-build concepts
- Soliciting and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotes
- Issuing purchase orders and coordinating project materials
- Supporting field personnel by communicating project requirements
- Tracking change orders and project modifications
- Assisting in managing projects from estimate through completion
Qualifications
Required
- Electrical field experience OR related education in an electrical discipline
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic understanding of electrical theory and the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam and/or Adobe
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the Twin Cities metro area
- Ability to pass a background check, pre-employment drug screen, and post-accident drug testing requirements
Preferred
Trade school certificate, associate degree, or coursework in:
- Electrical Construction
- Electrical Technology
- Electrical Design
- Construction Management
- Engineering
- Drafting
- Related technical fields
- Familiarity with Accubid, PlanGrid, CAD, AGi32, or EasyPower
Schedule
Monday–Friday with flexible hours between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM
