About the Role:

The Biller plays a critical role in managing the financial transactions and billing processes within an organization, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in invoicing clients or patients. This position is responsible for preparing and sending bills, verifying billing data, and resolving any discrepancies to maintain smooth revenue flow. The Biller collaborates closely with other departments such as accounting, customer service, and management to ensure that billing information is accurate and up to date. By maintaining detailed records and following up on outstanding payments, the Biller helps optimize cash flow and supports the financial health of the organization. Ultimately, this role contributes to customer satisfaction by providing clear and accurate billing information and addressing billing inquiries promptly and professionally.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
Good organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail..
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with customers, referral sources and other health care team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with industry-specific billing systems (e.g., medical billing software for healthcare roles).
Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards related to billing and invoicing.
Certification in billing or coding (such as Certified Professional Biller) is a plus.

Responsibilities:

Knowledgeable of and adheres to all applicable AMS policies, procedures, and patient protocols.
Compliant with government regulations and professional standards.
Conducts him/herself as a professional representative of AMS, bearing in mind that his/her conduct and appearance are a reflection of the entire organization.
Promotes and maintains a company environment which is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
Knowledgeable of insurance billing rules, regulations and guidelines.
Answers telephone according to AMS policy.
Updates monthly prior authorizations.
Compares monthly aging report’s weekly, compiles monthly trending reports for goal setting and provides follow through with old claims in a timely manner to receive payment.
Verifies Medicaid assess on monthly basis.
Learn all billing responsibilities and be competent to step in for other biller’s and customer service representatives responsibilities.
Timely receipt of benefits assigned to AMS and works with insurance companies and other funding entities to ensure prompt payment.
Post receivables and print monthly reports for the administrator.
Post receivables and print monthly reports for the administrator.
Input CMN’s as received and do billing thereafter.
Review insurance updates, vendor fee schedules, etc. and updates in computer and files accordingly.
Present insurance updates to intake coordinator(s) and customer service representatives.
Reviews patient balances and follows through with billing process.
Performs other duties as assigned.

The Biller uses strong organizational and analytical skills daily to ensure all billing information is accurate and complete before processing. Attention to detail is critical when reviewing invoices and resolving discrepancies to prevent errors that could impact revenue. Communication skills are essential for effectively liaising with patients, referrals, and other health care team members to clarify billing issues and provide updates. Proficiency with billing software and spreadsheet tools enables efficient data entry, report generation, and tracking of payments. Additionally, problem-solving skills help the Biller address challenges such as delayed payments or coding errors, contributing to smoother financial operations.
