This position is responsible for performing welding operations (GMAW, FMAW, FCAW and GTAW) to fabricate and/or repair parts and machinery according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders. Complex jobs or operations will be accomplished under the supervision of the group leader.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Weld assemblies for jigs or fixtures, repair and salvage broken castings, fabricate and construct metal frames and tanks. Complex jobs or operations will be accomplished under the supervision of the group leader.
2. Operate welding equipment, select proper size tips and rods, set and regulate gas pressures, adjust electrical current and voltage for proper fusion of metals and alloys. Complex jobs or operations will be accomplished under the supervision of the group leader.
3. Flame cut various shapes and forms according to requirements.
4. Test final weld and inspect quality of finished product.
5. Set-up and operate power tools such as saws, shear, brake, punch presses, drill presses and grinders to perform duties and assignments.
6. Make own set of welding fixtures, gages and clamps to prevent distortion and burning of materials, obtaining maximum mechanical strength to meet printed specifications.
7. Read blueprint drawings to layout and fabricate welding jobs.
8. Organize work in accordance with the dispatch report.
9. Devise special fixtures.
10. Maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly condition.
11. Follow safety rules.
12. Identify and report problems or difficulties to group leader or department supervisor.
Pay: $24.18 - $27.95 per hour
