Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning of patient rooms, corridors, restrooms, and common areas using appropriate cleaning techniques and equipment.
- Handle laundry duties efficiently, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and uniforms.
- Safely operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and scrubbers to maintain flooring surfaces in optimal condition.
- Properly handle chemical agents and cleaning supplies in accordance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards to ensure safety for yourself and others.
- Follow strict sanitation procedures to prevent healthcare-associated infections by adhering to infection control protocols.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks using safe lifting practices to move supplies or equipment as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of cleaning activities and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly.
Skills
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to chemical handling, manual handling, and workplace safety protocols.
- Proven experience in healthcare facilities housekeeping or custodial roles within hospitals or medical environments.
- Strong understanding of environmental services best practices including sanitation, floor care, and infection prevention.
- Ability to operate various cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude towards patients, staff, and visitors.
- Competence in handling chemical agents responsibly while maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting, prolonged standing, walking, bending, and manual tasks required for janitorial duties.
