Position Summary:
The buyer will assist the purchasing manager in purchasing decisions for packaging materials, ingredients, and supplies to keep production running without interruption while also working continuously to reduce costs and inventory carrying costs.
Essential Functions
The successful buyer will:
- Maintain proper inventory by placing orders in a timely fashion
- Work with plant scheduler and warehouse to maintain appropriate inventory levels
- Maintain records of goods ordered and received and ensure accurate pricing
- Work with the purchasing manager to develop and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Track open purchase orders to ensure materials arrive as scheduled and resolve past due PO’s to avoid interruptions to the production schedule
- Complete special projects as assigned
- Follow environmental and safety regulations and act in compliance with US laws
- Other duties as assigned
Education / Skills / Experience
- Two years related purchasing/warehousing experience
- Ability to communicate professionally with people both internally and externally
- Excellent Negotiating skills
- Flexibility and willingness to learn and grow
- Never say die attitude
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Proficient in ERP Systems
- Proficient with MS Office: Word and Excel
Physical Requirements
The employee is required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, climb, reach overhead and bend to the floor. Must be able to lift 20 pounds frequently, and/or 50 pounds on occasion.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
