Job Description
Hawkins Psychiatry PLLC is seeking a licensed Physician Assistant to join our outpatient psychiatric practice. This role focuses on psychiatric evaluation and medication management, with coverage for Spravato (esketamine) and TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) services as needed. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who is comfortable managing psychotropic medications and working collaboratively within a mental health care team.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of new and established patients
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic psychiatric conditions
- Develop, implement, and adjust individualized patient care and treatment plans
- Provide ongoing psychiatric medication management
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, including evaluating response and side effects
- Review functional biomarkers and conduct nutritional assessments with patients to support comprehensive, whole-person care
- Provide Spravato (esketamine) treatment coverage, including REMS-compliant monitoring
- Provide TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) treatment coverage as needed
- Order and interpret relevant diagnostic and laboratory tests
- Provide patient education on diagnosis, treatment options, and medication management
- Collaborate with supervising psychiatrist and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Practice infection control and safety measures in accordance with established protocols
Skills
- Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in psychiatry and mental health care
- Experience with psychiatric medication management
- Familiarity with functional biomarker review and nutritional assessment
- Familiarity with Spravato (esketamine) administration and REMS protocols (preferred)
- Familiarity with TMS therapy (preferred)
- Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Knowledge of medical office operations and HIPAA regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative care team

Qualifications
- Certification as a Physician Assistant with current licensure in good standing; experience in outpatient psychiatric or mental health settings preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as Practice Fusion; telehealth experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques relevant to psychiatric care.
- Experience with medication management including injection administration, CPT coding, and ICD-10 coding standards.
- Familiarity with acute care procedures such as physical examinations, vital signs monitoring, airway management, and basic life support certification.
- Prior experience working in hospital or outpatient clinics that utilize hospital medicine principles; Level I or Level II trauma center experience is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration; commitment to data management and infection control protocols.
