MATERIAL HANDLING SERVICE TECHNICIAN
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Directly reporting to the Service Manager, the Material Handling Service Technician will be responsible for making minor to major repairs, as well as perform planned maintenance on Internal Combustion and/or Electrically Powered Material Handling Equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Accurately and competently diagnose, make repairs, and perform routine maintenance to all the components and sub systems that make up Internal Combustion and Electrically Powered Material Handling Equipment

Competently repair all the subcomponents of Material Handling and other related equipment

Lubricate and perform preventive maintenance on material handling equipment and maintain a maintenance log

Use hand tools and computerized testing equipment to locate repair areas of concerns

Read and interprets blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to perform job duties

Uses a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to generate and process maintenance repair orders.

Perform Pre-Delivery Inspections

Accurately fill out diagnostic and pre-delivery paperwork

Perform Minor Paint and Body Work in all temperatures

Able to accurately read precision instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, and calipers

Weld or be willing to learn to Weld

Competently negotiate parts and service manuals.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
-
High School Diploma/GED
-
Trade School or 2 Year – Technical Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE/JOB KNOWLEDGE
-
Minimum of 5 years of successful Heavy Equipment/Material Handling Experience

Working Knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems as they pertain to the preventative maintenance and repair of Material Handling Equipment
-
Welding, Fabrication and Body work experience preferred
-
Experience with Word, Excel, and other computer-based programs
-
Demonstrated ability to work safely and independent with little or no supervision
-
Military Experience preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires:
-
Working indoors or outdoors for extended periods of time regardless of the outside temperature
-
Occasionally working in dusty and poorly lit areas
-
Frequent bending, occasional heavy lifting, working in cramped spaces and under equipment

Job may require the lifting of 25-50lbs at least once a day-
