Title: Fleet Maintenance Management
Description: We are a manufacturing facility of 30 years with steady growth and currently looking to expand it’s maintenance dept. by the addition of another full time team member.This position will report directly to the Operations Manager. The focus is on the mechanical fitness of our tractor, trailers, and forklifts. In this vital role, you will oversee the repair, servicing, and overall maintenance of a diverse fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance. Your expertise will drive efficiency, reduce downtime, and support the operational needs of our organization. The candidate having skills with facility maintenance would be a bonus.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities for all fleet vehicles and heavy equipment, including trucks, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to maximize equipment lifespan and minimize breakdowns.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, automotive diagnostics tools, and mechanical knowledge; perform repairs on transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, suspensions, brakes, and other vehicle systems.
- Oversee fabrication tasks as needed for custom repairs or modifications on heavy equipment or vehicles.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations such as air brake systems, HVAC systems, and other industry standards; conduct regular safety audits.
- Manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies necessary for efficient maintenance operations; coordinate with vendors for procurement.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used, and inspections completed to ensure accountability and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with operational managers to prioritize repairs that impact productivity; support vehicle systems upgrades or modifications as required.
Qualifications: To succeed in this position, key success factors include-
- A self starter that likes to work independently
- Good at working with other people
- Skilled in reading schematics and technical manuals; proficient with power tools and welding equipment.
- Strong understanding of automotive electrical system repair along with diesel engine repair expertise.
- CDL licensed for test drives and transporting to a dealer when needed
- Certified to perform DOT inspections
- Detail oriented - very good at making sure everything is right-including the paper work
- Able to lift to 50 pounds repeatedly
- Repairs and fabrication on heavy trucks and trailers
- Propane fueled forklift motors
- Operate Heavy Equipment, Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, etc. in a safe manner as per the company safety guidelines and regulations
- Understanding Lean concepts and practices
- Preventative and proactive Maintenance
- Applicable knowledge in tractor and trailer repairs
