Yard Operations Manager – Construction Equipment, Fleet & Materials
Summary
All Boro Industries is seeking an experienced Yard Operations Manager to oversee our yard, fleet, equipment, drivers, mechanics, and material logistics. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring materials, equipment, and trucks are available when needed to support our construction projects throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and the Operations team, you will manage the day-to-day activities of our yard while improving efficiency, organization, and accountability across the business.
Responsibilities
Materials & Procurement
- Order all construction materials, consumables, and rental equipment
- Coordinate deliveries to jobsites
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers and vendors
- Maintain inventory levels and prevent stock shortages
- Track material usage and costs by project
Yard Operations
- Oversee the daily operation of the yard and warehouse
- Maintain organized storage of materials, tools, and equipment
- Manage inventory control and perform regular cycle counts
- Ensure a clean, safe, and efficient yard
Fleet & Equipment
- Schedule trucks, trailers, cranes, pumps, and heavy equipment
- Coordinate equipment deliveries and pickups between jobsites
- Maximize fleet utilization while minimizing downtime
- Track equipment locations and availability
Drivers & Dispatch
- Supervise dispatch operations and driver scheduling
- Coordinate daily trucking and heavy haul activities
- Assign drivers and equipment based on project priorities
- Monitor GPS activity and fleet productivity
Shop & Maintenance
- Supervise mechanics and maintenance personnel
- Schedule preventive maintenance and repairs
- Track equipment inspections, service records, and warranties
- Ensure DOT compliance for trucks and trailers
Leadership
- Lead and mentor yard personnel, drivers, dispatchers, and mechanics
- Develop and improve operational procedures
- Work closely with Project Managers to prioritize deliveries and equipment needs
- Maintain a high level of safety, accountability, and customer service
Qualifications
- 7+ years of construction, trucking, heavy equipment, or yard management experience
- Experience managing fleet operations and dispatch
- Strong knowledge of construction materials and equipment
- Experience supervising drivers, mechanics, and warehouse personnel
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and fleet compliance
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams
- Experience with fleet management, dispatch, or inventory software preferred
