The Vice-Principal serves as the Administrative Leader for an assigned grade band and is responsible for the systems, logistics, behavior, supervision, and operational execution necessary to maintain a safe, orderly, positive, and effective learning environment.
This leader works closely with the Principal, academic leaders, teachers, and district staff to ensure that expectations are consistently implemented and that operational or behavioral concerns do not interfere with teaching and learning.
The Vice-Principal is expected to be highly visible, responsive, organized, and proactive. Strong performance in this role means identifying concerns early, following through until issues are resolved, and creating the conditions in which teachers can teach and students can learn.

Lead student discipline systems and conduct parent conferences related to behavior, attendance, and administrative concerns.

Manage truancy meetings, required documentation, and follow-up.

Implement Exalt’s Positive Behavior systems and maintain accurate behavior documentation.

Work with teachers and leaders to maintain a culture of positive behavior, accountability, urgency, inclusion, and high expectations.

Support students requiring additional behavioral interventions and ensure plans are implemented consistently.

Maintain a highly visible presence throughout the assigned grade band and during key student transitions.

Oversee arrival, dismissal, recess, lunch, specials transitions, hallway movement, and other supervision systems.

Support student safety procedures, emergency drills, and schoolwide expectations.

Ensure assigned spaces remain orderly, safe, welcoming, and conducive to learning.

Proactively identify supervision, safety, or operational concerns before they become larger problems.

Coordinate substitute assignments, teacher coverage, and daily staffing adjustments.

Maintain effective substitute systems and ensure teachers have current and usable substitute materials.

Coordinate teacher attendance and PTO coverage in partnership with the Principal and appropriate district staff.

Monitor teacher completion of administrative responsibilities, including attendance, gradebooks, deadlines, and other required deliverables.

Address missed expectations promptly and ensure appropriate follow-through.

Ensure the master schedule and daily schedules are implemented with fidelity.

Monitor transitions, instructional periods, duties, and other scheduled systems to prevent loss of instructional time.

Track operational needs and work orders and communicate concerns to the Director of Operations.

Follow through on reported facility, cleanliness, safety, or operational concerns until they are resolved.

Assist the Principal with daily school operations and special events as assigned.

Protect instructional time by ensuring behavioral, scheduling, staffing, and operational systems function effectively.

Partner with the Principal, Academic Coach, Teacher Leaders, and other instructional leaders to support implementation of Exalt’s academic model.

Participate in classroom walkthroughs and observations as assigned and provide feedback within the scope of the leader’s role.

Use student behavior, attendance, and operational data to identify barriers that may affect academic performance.

Support intervention and student-support systems by ensuring plans, schedules, staffing, and administrative requirements are implemented consistently.
The Vice-Principal supports academic priorities but is not the primary owner of instructional coaching, curriculum implementation, or academic outcomes unless specifically assigned by the Principal.

Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with families regarding behavior, attendance, safety, and administrative concerns.

Build productive relationships with students, staff, and families while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.

Communicate emerging concerns to the Principal and appropriate district leaders before they become larger issues.

Participate in interviews and hiring processes as assigned.

Support the onboarding of new employees by ensuring they understand campus systems, expectations, supervision responsibilities, and administrative procedures.

Reinforce professional expectations and provide timely feedback when administrative or operational expectations are not being met.

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Arkansas building-level administrator licensure required or eligibility to obtain appropriate licensure.

Prior successful experience in education required.

Prior teacher leadership, dean, assistant principal, vice-principal, or other school leadership experience preferred.

Demonstrated ability to manage student behavior, school systems, staff expectations, and competing priorities.

Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.

Ability to remain calm, visible, and solutions-focused in a fast-paced school environment.
