Overview
The Team Leader will be responsible for monitoring and supporting a team of line staff to implement all program activities to achieve the program’s objectives. The Team Leader will be responsible for providing guidance, instruction, training, and leadership skills to inspire the team to perform at their optimum.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Management:
- Manage and support the day-to-day activities of the team.
- Motivate the team to achieve program goals.
- Delegate tasks to team members to ensure activities are implemented as planned.
- Empower team members with skills to improve their confidence, activity knowledge, and facilitation skills.
- Contribute to the growth of the program through a successful team.
- Create a pleasant working environment that inspires the team.
- Manage small and large groups of participants when necessary.
- Comply and effectively implement processes as directed .
- Maintain comprehensive records on participants and volunteers as required, and produce reports when requested.
- Hold staff accountable to weekly and monthly planning expectations as established by the program and/or organization.
- Maintaining all necessary attendance and participant records as required.
- Take initiative in researching, proposing, and implementing fun and educational program activities/opportunities.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to DFOY and school district on-site safety expectations, including but not limited to, implementing the site’s safety plan.
- Attend leadership meetings, collaboration meetings, management meetings, and other meetings and training as required.
- Demonstrate reliability such as arriving on-time for scheduled shifts and completing supervisory responsibilities in a timely and thorough manner.
- Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality pertaining to participants, staff, and management matters.
- Inspiringly advocate for healthy living; set a positive example in food selection, exercise and personal habits and attitudes.
- Report all incidents/accidents to the Assistant/Program Director as soon as possible preferably within 30 minutes after the incident.
- Support and comply with organization and site policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position requires a person who has the capacity to work in an environment where there may be many distractions and interruptions, and still accomplish their objectives as well as meet established deadlines.
- Effective management of resources and equipment are integral components of the fluidity of the program’s success, and the Team Leader must essure the team adhers to it.
- Staff supervision is a key requirement; the Team Leader must be able to implement/facilitate activities, while maintaining program safety.
- Team Leader is expected to abide by DFOY dress code at all times.
Skills/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or similar.
- 2-3 years experience in developing and implementing enrichment activities.
- Strong public speaking and writing skills
- A team player with demonstrated commitment to working with inner-city youth and young adults
- Bi-lingual (Spanish preferred) is a plus, but not required.
- Possess excellent communication, supervisory and administrative skills.
- Has at least 2 years experience working with youth in a classroom, after school, or recreation environment.
Expectations:
A successful Team Leader must be result-driven and should have a track record of team motivation. The Team Leader must be able to display excellent interpersonal skills to build quality relationships with the team and participants, be goal-driven, and manage the day-to-day activities of the team efficiently.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
