Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to provide personal support for 12 hours per week, specifically on Saturdays and Sundays from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys cooking, particularly with a slow cooker, and can engage in community activities, grocery shopping, and meal preparation.
Entry rate of $18.40 per hour, will increase to $20.00 at the successful completion of the introductory period and required DDA and organization training.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing healthy meals using a slow cooker.

Collaborate with them to create and follow meal plans that meet dietary preferences.

Help prepare a grocery list based on meal plans and preferences.

Accompany person supported on grocery shopping trips, ensuring their involvement in the selection of items.

Assist person supported with budgeting for groceries and meal-related expenses.

Teach and support in managing her finances related to food shopping.

Engage with person supported in planning and participating in community outings that interest her.

Encourage them to explore new activities and locations in her local community.

Maintain clear and respectful communication with person supported, ensuring their needs and preferences are prioritized.

Be present and attentive during interactions, minimizing distractions from personal devices.
Candidate Qualities:

Enjoy cooking and have experience with meal preparation, particularly with slow cooker recipes.

Strong communication skills, able to express ideas clearly and listen actively.

A commitment to being fully present and engaged, avoiding excessive phone usage during work hours.

Open-minded and supportive of their self-advocacy and decision-making processes.

High school diploma or equivalent (required).

Valid Non-Provisional Driver’s License.

Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19.

Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is a plus but not required.

Willing and able to transport individuals with disabilities using a company vehicle and/or your personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement), within Montgomery County and the surrounding Washington, D.C. metro area
