American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU position on a busy surgical oncology unit requiring 2 years of acute care experience with at least 1 year in PCU.

Mixed acuity surgical oncology unit caring for both PCU and Med Surg patients
-
Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics/reconstructive diagnoses
-
Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be 1:5
-
Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)

Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs

No set or blocked scheduling offered

May be required to float within scope of practice

12-hour D/N rotating contract available with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period

EPIC charting system used
-
Active RN license, OH state or compact license required in hand at time of submission

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

ONS Chemo certification preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months
-
At least 1 year of PCU experience required

Oncology experience preferred but not required
-
EPIC charting experience required
-
Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
-
Experience with chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, and heparin drips
-
Skills in respiratory care, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), and tracheostomy care
-
Cardiac telemetry monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
-
2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Provide nursing care for surgical oncology patients including breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics/reconstructive cases

Manage oncologic emergencies including cytokine release syndrome
-
Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention

All permanent staff on the unit is PCU trained

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice is valued

RTO must be submitted with contract request and limited to 7 days or less

Local candidates accepted at the same rate

Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility

Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system

Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon contract signing; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those at extreme distances will be mailed a fingerprinting packet
