Job Title: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Reports to: Clinical Director of Behavior Health Support
Job Description:
The role of the PMHNP is to assess, diagnose and treat the mental health needs of patients:
Job Responsibilities:
- Practice within the scope of education and certification
- Perform advanced assessment through screening history and exam
- Differentiate between mental health and underlying medical comorbidities
- Identify any current or history of substance use disorder
- Advocate for psychiatric patients and their families
- Provide necessary referrals to healthcare for safety and monitoring
- Perform intake and follow up assessment for medication management
- Provide education concerning mental health diagnosis
- Provide education and safety information for medication management
- Provide crisis intervention, assist with case management and consultation
- Engage in psychotherapy modalities (preferred, not required)
- Engage in a multidisciplinary approach to care involving collaboration with other healthcare providers implementing HIPAA compliant methods, and EHR Compliance.
- Timely and accurate documentation and coding of all patient visits.
- Refer to PDMP and DEA regulations for controlled substance monitoring and prescribing.
- Diagnosing and treating based on the DSM, and EBP/EBC
- Maintaining healthy boundaries and expectations of patients and provider relationship
- Maintaining and supporting a therapeutic relationship with patients.
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of previous PMHNP experience in an outpatient setting
- CO license and/or the ability to obtain your CO license
- APRN + RXN authority required
- DEA license required in state performing services
- Tele-Health experience preferred
- Must be competent with technology
- Must be able to multitask successfully
