Job Overview
The IDD Direct Support Professional plays a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and autism by providing guidance and assistance in daily living skills.
We looking for individuals to fill the following schedules:
- Monday - Thursday 4:00-8:00pm
- Friday 2:00-6:00pm
- Monday 10:00am - 2:00pm
This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients through personalized training and support, fostering independence, and promoting positive behaviors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in caregiving, special education, or related fields, along with excellent communication skills to effectively engage with clients and their families.
Duties
- Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in daily living activities (ADLs) such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household management.
- Implement individualized training programs aimed at developing life skills and promoting independence.
- Utilize behavior management techniques to encourage positive behaviors and address challenging behaviors effectively.
- Collect and document data on client progress, behavior changes, and skill development to inform ongoing support strategies.
- Assist clients in community integration activities, fostering social skills and community engagement.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each individual.
- Administer medications as required while adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients at all times.
Qualifications
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in home & community care or caregiving roles is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.
- Valid driver's license is required for transportation purposes.
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
