Job Description
As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients visiting EBCAP health centers. You'll play a key role in ensuring a seamless patient experience by managing intake activities, maintaining accurate health records, administering standardized screenings, and supporting care coordination efforts. Your work will help ensure patients receive timely, high-quality care while contributing to the overall efficiency of the health center.
Patient Reception & Administrative Support
- Welcome patients and visitors both in person and through telehealth services.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes.
- Collect co-pays, insurance information, and required documentation.
- Ensure patient records remain accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Maintain electronic health records and organize required medical documentation.
- Schedule appointments and support efficient patient flow throughout the day.
Clinical Screening & Patient Assessment
- Conduct standardized health screenings using approved protocols and tools.
- Administer assessments including depression screenings, tobacco cessation screenings, PRAPARE, GPRA, GAD-7, PHQ-2/9, AUDIT, and other required evaluations.
- Document screening results accurately within the electronic health record system.
- Promptly communicate high-risk findings to healthcare providers and care team members.
Patient Education & Navigation Support
- Provide educational materials and resources to patients.
- Connect patients with appropriate referral services and community resources.
- Support follow-up tasks assigned by healthcare providers.
- Assist patients with questions regarding appointments, services, and required paperwork.
Team Collaboration & Professional Growth
- Partner closely with physicians, nurses, social workers, care coordinators, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and compliance with healthcare privacy regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with industry best practices and technologies.

Experience
- At least one year of experience in a healthcare, medical office, or customer service environment.
- Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy setting.
Knowledge
- Familiarity with medical terminology and basic healthcare procedures.
- Understanding of HIPAA requirements and patient privacy standards.
- Proficiency with computers, office technology, and digital record systems.
- Knowledge of health insurance processes and patient registration procedures.
- Associate degree in Health Administration, Medical Assisting, or a related field.
- Bilingual abilities, especially Spanish language proficiency.
- Experience working in community health or similar healthcare environments.
- Understanding of social determinants of health and available community resources.
