Saffo Contractors, Inc. is a nationally recognized specialty coatings and bridge maintenance contractor with projects across the East Coast. We are seeking a Senior Bridge Repairs Superintendent to join our team. This position will oversee all construction activities on major heavy civil infrastructure projects, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule performance.
This is a senior-level leadership role, not entry-level, and requires proven experience in heavy civil and bridge repair construction.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead field operations on one or multiple projects, ensuring work complies with all contract drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.
· Supervise and support foremen, field engineers, and subcontractors to achieve project goals.
· Plan and manage work methods, material and equipment needs, and manpower scheduling.
· Monitor and update project schedules; present production status to owners and management.
· Review shop drawings, material submittals, and design specifications to ensure quality.
· Track project performance against budget, schedule, and safety metrics, documenting daily activities.
· Identify risks, troubleshoot challenges, and recommend corrective actions to maintain progress.
· Coordinate with utility companies, engineering staff, and crews to maintain safe work environments.
· Oversee project close-out activities to meet company and owner requirements.
· Promote Saffo’s safety culture and mentor field staff for long-term professional growth.
· Willing and able to learn about the industrial coatings industry in addition to the substructure repair background already acquired
Qualifications
· 5–10 years of heavy civil construction experience (bridge work preferred).
· 3+ years as a superintendent or inspector in coatings/structural repair.
· Foreman-level experience in:
o Pour repairs
o Joint repairs
o Concrete repairs & shotcrete application
o Beam plating & steel beam repairs
o Epoxy resin injection
o Bridge jacking & steel bearing replacement
o Containment, blasting, cleaning, and repainting operations (a plus)
· Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
· Ability to interpret and enforce construction specifications and safety standards.
· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (a plus)
· Industry certifications (NACE, C3/C5, OSHA 30, CAS) are highly valued.
· Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus).
· Shotcrete Nozzleman Certification (a plus)
· DOT Welding Certification (a plus)
