Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Marketing Communication Strategy:
- Develop and execute comprehensive marketing communication strategies to enhance brand visibility, promote products/services, and increase customer engagement.
- Align communication strategies with overall marketing goals, ensuring consistency across all platforms.
- Identify key audiences and tailor messaging to address their specific needs, preferences, and pain points.
- Track and report against hospitality-specific performance metrics, including direct booking attribution, F&B cover impact, press placement volume, and channel engagement rates.
- Content Creation & Management:
- Lead the creation of high-quality content, including press releases, blog posts, social media copy, website content, email campaigns, and promotional materials.
- Ensure that all content is aligned with the brand’s voice, style, and messaging guidelines.
- Oversee the content calendar and manage content production timelines, ensuring timely delivery of assets.
- Collaborate with the creative team to produce visually engaging content (e.g., graphics, videos, etc.) for various marketing initiatives.
- Coordinate and manage on-property photo and video shoots, including briefing objectives, managing logistics, and working with the corporate creative team on asset requirements and timelines.
- Digital & Social Media Management:
- Manage the company’s digital presence across multiple channels, including social media platforms, email marketing, and the company website.
- Create and implement social media strategies to increase engagement, followers, and brand awareness.
- Monitor social media trends, industry news, and competitor activities, adjusting strategies to stay relevant and competitive.
- Develop and optimize email marketing campaigns, segmenting audiences for maximum effectiveness.
- Public Relations & Media Outreach:
- Develop and manage relationships with media outlets, journalists, influencers, and industry bloggers.
- Coordinate and oversee press releases, media pitches, and public relations campaigns to enhance brand reputation and visibility.
- Respond to media inquiries and proactively seek out opportunities for press coverage, interviews, and feature stories.
- Organize and manage company participation in industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
- Manage day-to-day relationships with PR, content, and creative agency partners, including briefing, deliverable review, and performance reporting.
- Internal Communication & Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams (sales, operations, HR, etc.) to ensure consistent messaging and seamless communication within the organization.
- Create and manage internal newsletters, announcements, and other communications to keep employees informed and aligned with company goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather insights and ensure alignment on key initiatives and messaging.
- Branding & Messaging:
- Maintain brand consistency across all communication materials, ensuring that all messaging aligns with the company’s values and brand identity.
- Conduct regular audits of marketing materials to ensure they reflect the company’s brand guidelines.
- Develop key messages, slogans, and taglines for campaigns and product launches, ensuring they resonate with the target audience.
- Marketing Campaigns & Promotions:
- Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns across various channels (digital, print, events) to drive brand awareness, engagement, and sales.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to ensure promotional efforts are effectively communicated to potential customers.
- Analyze the performance of marketing campaigns and provide insights and recommendations for future improvements.
- Coordinate property-level F&B marketing across outlets, including promotional campaigns, local awareness efforts, cover-driving initiatives, and event-based programming in collaboration with F&B leadership.
- Support the sales team with marketing materials, co-branded collateral, and campaign coordination for group, corporate, and partnership accounts.
- Property-Specific Responsibilities:
- Santa Monica Proper: Lead all marketing communications and brand activation initiatives for the property, including digital, social, PR, and partnerships. Support Proper Club (Membership) programming and communications, including member acquisition campaigns, retention initiatives, exclusive event promotion, and member-facing content across all channels.
- Proper DTLA: Develop and execute property-level marketing communication strategies that reflect the distinct identity and positioning of Proper DTLA, ensuring seamless coordination with the Area Director of Sales & Marketing and alignment with Proper Hospitality brand standards across all channels and audiences.
- Responsibilities will be allocated approximately 60% to Santa Monica Proper and 40% to Downtown Los Angeles Proper, with flexibility to adjust based on evolving business needs.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 5-7+ years of experience in marketing communications, brand marketing, or a related field in hospitality, lifestyle, or service industry.
- Experience managing content creation, digital marketing channels, and media outreach.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns.
Skills/Specialized Knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to accelerate content development, ideation, and campaign execution.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to craft compelling, clear, and engaging content.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Canva, Klaviyo).
- Proficiency with Brandfolder or a comparable digital asset management platform
- Experience with project management tools (Asana or equivalent)
- Ability to interpret performance data in GA4 and Meta Ads Manager
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of SEO, SEM, and social media strategies.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and branding consistency.
- Ability to analyze data and use insights to adjust and optimize campaigns.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with occasional extended hours.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
- Occasional travel may be required for events or media outreach activities.
