Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Screen Technician to join our fast-paced screen printing shop in North Kansas City, MO. In this role, you will own our screen room from start to finish—reclaiming, coating, imaging, exposing, and washing out screens that feed our entire production floor. Our darkroom is fully machine-based, so your success depends on strong time and job management: balancing screen cleaning, dry time, coating, and imaging throughout the day to keep us on schedule and ahead of schedule. Your work is the foundation every print job is built on. This position offers an exciting opportunity to run advanced, automated equipment and play a critical role in a growing screen printing and embroidery business that takes pride in quality and cleanliness.
Responsibilities
- Reclaim screens using our automatic reclaim system, removing emulsion and ink to return screens to a clean, reusable state.
- Coat screens with emulsion using our automatic coater, ensuring consistent, defect-free coatings.
- Image screens using our computer-to-screen (CTS) system, accurately transferring artwork to screen.
- Expose screens using LED exposure equipment for clean, durable stencils.
- Wash out screens and inspect for quality, resolution, and registration before they reach the press team.
- Manage the daily screen schedule to keep production on time and ahead of schedule, sequencing cleaning, drying, coating, and imaging so screens are always ready when the press team needs them.
- Run multiple darkroom machines simultaneously while staying efficient and organized.
- Maintain a high level of quality and cleanliness throughout the darkroom, following all safety protocols.
- Track screen inventory and flag equipment or supply issues before they cause production delays.
Requirements
- Strong time and job management skills—able to juggle multiple steps and machines at once and consistently stay ahead of schedule.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and consistency in every screen produced.
- Ability to work in a fully machine-based environment and learn automated reclaim, coating, imaging, and exposure systems (training provided on our specific equipment).
- Self-motivated and reliable, with a strong sense of ownership over the screen room.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing setting that involves standing, lifting screens, and working with water and chemicals.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate with the press team on priorities and timing.
- Prior screen printing, pre-press, or darkroom experience is a strong plus, but we are willing to train the right detail-oriented, dependable candidate.
