Job Overview
We are seeking a Quality Manager to lead the Quality Assurance function within a growing aerospace manufacturing environment.
This role is focused specifically on Quality Assurance leadership and will oversee a small, high-impact team while driving compliance, continuous improvement, and customer quality initiatives.
Reporting to the Director of Quality, you’ll play a key role in strengthening quality systems, leading audits, and ensuring alignment with AS9100 and aerospace standards.
Team Structure
You will directly manage:
- 3 Quality Engineers
- 1 Quality Technician
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Quality Assurance team
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean / Six Sigma methodologies
- Own and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO, and aerospace standards
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer audits and quality issues
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, DMAIC, etc.)
- Oversee quality planning activities including APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, and process capability
- Review and interpret customer specifications, blueprints, and GD&T
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality issues
- Track and report quality metrics and KPIs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field + 5+ years of quality experience, OR
- 15+ years of quality experience in manufacturing
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing (strongly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 and quality systems (QMS)
- Proven leadership experience managing quality teams
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Experience with APQP, FMEA, 8D, MSA, and process capability tools
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Minitab
Preferred Qualifications
- Six Sigma Black Belt (or equivalent)
- Experience with NADCAP or aerospace audits
- Familiarity with self-release programs (DSQR, DQCR, etc.)
Additional Requirements
- Must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. Person status required)
- Ability to pass FAA drug testing and compliance requirements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (PPE required)
- Occasional travel may be required
