The Briefing Room is looking for a highly organized Production Assistant to help manage the production of our growing library of professional law enforcement training videos.
The Briefing Room produces briefing and training videos used by law enforcement agencies throughout California and across the country. As our national production schedule continues to grow, we are looking for someone who can take ownership of the coordination and logistics necessary to move videos from completed scripts through filming, editing, and final release.
This is not primarily a video editing or cinematography position. The Production Assistant will work closely with our writers, presenters, cinematographer, video editor, production intern, law enforcement partners, actors, and community partners to keep the entire production process organized and moving forward.
What You'll Do
You will help manage the day-to-day production workflow, including:
· Manage the master production and video release schedule for content being distributed to law enforcement agencies nationwide
· Determine which videos need to be filmed to meet upcoming production and release deadlines
· Coordinate and schedule A-roll shoots with instructors and presenters
· Review upcoming scripts to identify B-roll requirements and determine what scenes need to be filmed
· Plan and schedule B-roll productions based on the specific needs of each video
· Coordinate law enforcement officers, actors, presenters, and other participants needed for individual productions
· Identify and secure realistic filming locations for law enforcement scenarios
· Develop and maintain relationships with businesses, public agencies, and community partners willing to provide locations for filming
· Identify, locate, purchase, and organize props, wardrobe, and other specialized items needed for productions
· Coordinate production logistics before filming to ensure locations, personnel, props, equipment, and schedules are ready
· Maintain a clear production workflow from script → ready to film → raw footage → editing → completed production → scheduled release
· Track production progress, assignments, deadlines, and project status using Asana
· Maintain organized scripts, production files, raw footage, B-roll, graphics, and finished videos using Google Drive
· Coordinate with the cinematographer and video editor to ensure footage and production assets move efficiently through post-production
· Identify production delays or missing assets and help resolve them before they affect the release schedule
· Help keep multiple productions moving simultaneously while maintaining organization and attention to detail
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys organizing complicated projects and making sure all of the pieces come together.
We're looking for someone with:
· Strong organizational, scheduling, and project-management skills
· Ability to manage multiple video productions and deadlines simultaneously
· Excellent attention to detail
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Confidence communicating professionally with law enforcement personnel, businesses, presenters, actors, and community partners
· Ability to anticipate production needs and solve logistical problems
· Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned projects
· Familiarity with video production workflows and terminology
· Experience with Asana, Google Drive, or similar project-management and file-management systems preferred
· Film, television, digital media, communications, production, project coordination, or related experience preferred
· Understanding of law enforcement culture, terminology, or operations is preferred but not required
Why Join The Briefing Room?
This position provides an opportunity to become a central part of a growing professional production team creating training viewed by law enforcement professionals throughout California and across the country.
You won't simply assist on film shoots. You will help coordinate the entire production pipeline and play a direct role in determining how projects move from an idea and completed script to a finished video released to agencies nationwide.
