Loyd Homes of Decatur is a family-owned organization providing residential services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and we’re looking for a dependable, organized and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team.
This is a unique nursing position with a high degree of flexibility and professional autonomy.
Our RN has private office space at our Decatur administrative office but also has the flexibility to work remotely when responsibilities allow. We don’t require a traditional 8–5 office schedule. Our nurses are trusted to manage their own schedules, stay on top of their responsibilities, and make sure our clients and staff receive the support they need.
What You’ll Do
This position combines nursing, care coordination, staff support and documentation. Responsibilities include:
· Assessing and monitoring the health needs of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
· Coordinating care with physicians, pharmacies, specialists and other healthcare providers
· Communicating regularly with staff, clients and families
· Providing nursing guidance and support to our residential staff
· Medication and nurse-delegation oversight
· Training and educating staff regarding client healthcare needs
· Following up on appointments, hospital visits, medication changes and health concerns
· Completing required nursing assessments and documentation
· Maintaining records and helping ensure compliance with ADMH, Medicaid and other applicable requirements
· Working closely with our LPN, QIDP, house managers and management team
· Participating in a rotating nursing on-call schedule, currently alternating approximately one week on/one week off

We’re Looking for Someone Who Is
· A currently licensed Registered Nurse able to practice in Alabama
· Dependable and responsive
· Organized and excellent with documentation
· Comfortable working independently
· A strong communicator
· Patient and comfortable working with staff at all experience levels
· Compassionate and respectful toward adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
· Comfortable communicating with families, physicians and other healthcare providers
· Able to manage their own schedule and responsibilities without being micromanaged
Experience with intellectual/developmental disabilities, ADMH programs, nurse delegation, community nursing, home health, case management, long-term care, Medicaid documentation or residential services is a plus, but it is not required for the right RN.
Compensation
$55,000–$65,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Full-time salaried position with a flexible, self-directed schedule and hybrid work opportunities.
This position does require in-person availability for client assessments, residential visits, meetings, training and other responsibilities when needed, as well as participation in the rotating nursing on-call schedule.
