Job Summary

Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral examinations.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.
- Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside assisting, managing dental instruments, and maintaining a sterile environment through infection prevention management.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix), documenting treatment details, medical records, and medical coding with precision.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and managing sensitive medical information securely.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as oryx and curve for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with children is highly desirable.
- Expertise in infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention standards.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety guidelines.
- Excellent client communication skills to educate patients effectively about oral health and treatment plans.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR management systems for documentation review and electronic health records management.
