Job Overview
We are seeking a trained and experienced yoga instructor to lead beginner and mixed level yoga classes. The perfect candidate is one who has a dedicated personal yoga practice of no less than five years and is trained in classical yoga, with a firm understanding of proper alignment, modifications and variations to address the limitations that first-time beginners or seniors often encounter on their mat. You are kind, compassionate, and gentle in sequencing your practice, but also inspiring and encouraging. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in a vibrant, growing yoga community.
Duties
- Lead group yoga classes tailored to various skill levels, especially beginners
- Demonstrate proper alignment, modifications and variations, breathing techniques, and sequences to maximize benefits and prevent injuries
- Design customized yoga programs that align with clients’ fitness goals and physical capabilities
- Maintain a clean and welcoming studio environment, cleaning the studio floor after class and making sure props are put away neatly
- Communicate effectively with students to understand their needs, offer modifications, and foster a supportive atmosphere
- Maintain a personal yoga practice
- Be open to subbing for other teachers when necessary
Experience
- Proven experience teaching yoga classes
- Have a minimum of 200 hours teacher training
- Must be computer savvy, able to learn our scheduling software quickly
- Years of personal yoga practice is important to fully understand the practice and teaching of yoga
- The best yoga instructors have a firm understanding of ahimsa & svadyaya and understand that yoga is more than just the postures
