Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit detailed medical claims for personal injury cases using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Accurately code procedures and diagnoses utilizing CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and ICD coding standards to ensure compliance and maximize reimbursements.
- Review medical records and documentation to verify accuracy and completeness before billing submissions.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance companies, health providers, and patients to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain organized records of all billing activities, including claim status updates, payment histories, and correspondence logs.
- Stay current with healthcare claims management regulations, health insurance policies, and coding updates to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly to inquiries from patients, providers, or insurance representatives regarding billing issues or payment statuses.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing within a healthcare setting, preferably with personal injury or related specialties. PROFICIENT IN CHIRO FUSION
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding standards including CPT coding, ICD-9/10, ICD coding, DRG classifications, and healthcare claims management.
- Familiarity with billing software platforms, EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Understanding of health insurance policies, medical collections processes, and patient account management.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in billing procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with insurance companies, healthcare providers, patients, and team members in a professional manner.
