Duties
- Greet customers warmly and assess their eyewear preferences and needs with enthusiasm and professionalism
- Assist clients in selecting frames that suit their face shape, personal style, and prescription requirements
- Educate customers on frame materials, styles, lens options, and proper fit to ensure optimal comfort and vision correction
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest optical trends, technologies, and product inventory
- Measure and verify frame fit using professional techniques such as PD (pupillary distance) measurement and frame adjustments
- Manage retail sales transactions accurately using POS systems while promoting additional products like lens coatings or accessories
- Ensure all medical records, prescriptions, and billing information are handled in compliance with HIPAA regulations and stored securely
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices
- Experience with optical or retail sales environments; familiarity with retail math is a plus
- Basic understanding of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or similar platforms
- Ability to interpret prescriptions accurately and communicate technical information clearly to clients
- Knowledge of vital signs assessment, aseptic techniques, and laboratory procedures related to vision care is advantageous
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for providing outstanding customer service in pediatrics, senior care, or general retail settings
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism
