Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a 15-week contract opportunity in a correctional healthcare facility in Clayton, Alabama. This evening shift position provides an opportunity to deliver direct nursing care in a secure and structured healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care within the scope of LPN practice.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
- Monitor patient conditions and report changes to the appropriate RN or provider.
- Perform nursing assessments and maintain accurate patient documentation.
- Assist with patient examinations, sick calls, and treatment procedures.
- Maintain confidential medical records.
- Provide health education and counseling as appropriate.
- Respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
- Follow healthcare, safety, infection control, and correctional facility procedures.
- Collaborate with RNs, providers, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted LPN/LVN license.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Previous correctional, Psychiatric, Behavioral Health, acute care, medical-surgical, or clinical nursing experience preferred.
- Strong patient assessment, medication administration, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional healthcare environment.
- Candidates residing beyond 50 miles from the assignment location are encouraged to apply.
