Robert F. Munroe Day School is seeking a skilled, passionate, and mission-aligned Biology and/or Chemistry teacher to join our Upper School faculty for the 2026–2027 academic year. This is a full-time position with responsibility for designing and delivering rigorous, engaging science instruction to students across grades 6–12.
The ideal candidate brings deep content knowledge, a genuine love of science, and a commitment to drawing the best from every student. You will teach young scientists to observe, hypothesize, experiment, analyze, and communicate — building not only academic skill but the intellectual character that defines an RFM graduate.
As an Upper School faculty member, you will be part of a collegial team committed to building a curriculum infrastructure that is coherent, ambitious, and student-centered across Grades 6–12. You will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the academic vision of the school — not just deliver it.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in Biology and/or Chemistry across assigned grade levels
- Create a well-managed, inclusive classroom environment where every student is safe, challenged, and seen
- Develop and administer meaningful assessments; use data to drive instructional decisions and communicate student progress clearly to families and school leadership
- Incorporate laboratory experiences that develop scientific thinking, procedural skill, and student curiosity
- Align curriculum to relevant standards and college-preparatory expectations including Pre-AP and/or AP frameworks where applicable
- Support students' academic and character development in alignment with RFM's core values: Courage, Compassion, Leadership, and Innovation
- Collaborate with fellow faculty, department colleagues, and school leadership in curriculum planning, professional learning communities, and school improvement efforts
- Maintain accurate and timely grade records; communicate proactively with families regarding student progress and areas of growth
- Participate actively in the life of the school — events, assemblies, field experiences, advisories, and school culture initiatives
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Head of Upper School or school administration

- Alignment with the mission, values, and college-, career-, and civic-preparatory philosophy of Robert F. Munroe Day School
- Ability to build authentic, respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues
