Vincentian Schenley Gardens in the heart of Oakland is looking for a Lead Med Tech to join our team. The schedule for this position is "W.O.W", which is a 'working on weekends' schedule. You will be paid 1.5x your hourly rate on the weekend (Saturday-Sunday) and considered eligible for Full Time benefits while only needing to work 24 total hours over the weekend!

Vincentian is looking for a compassionate, dependable, and experienced Lead Medication Technician to join our resident care team. In this leadership role, you’ll help ensure residents receive safe, high-quality care while supporting and guiding our Medication Technicians and Resident Aides.
The Lead Medication Technician plays an important role in the day-to-day operations of resident care—from administering medications and monitoring residents’ health to coordinating staff assignments and supporting families. If you’re an experienced Medication Technician who enjoys helping others, takes pride in providing excellent resident care, and is ready to take on additional leadership responsibilities, we’d love to hear from you!
Provide Medication & Resident Care

Safely administer and manage residents’ medications and treatments according to physician orders and established standards.

Monitor residents through vital signs, blood glucose checks, weight, observation, and other required assessments.

Observe and report changes in residents’ physical, cognitive, or emotional condition to the appropriate nurse or physician.

Assist with physician rounds and help coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services.

Review and transcribe physician orders and update electronic medication records as needed.

Complete medication cart audits, monthly reviews, narcotic counts, and required documentation.

Respond appropriately to medication errors, falls, illnesses, and other emergencies.

Complete incident reports and notify physicians, families, and/or responsible parties as appropriate.

Assist with resident admissions and readmissions.
Support Residents with Daily Living

Assist residents with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, shaving, dental hygiene, and nail and hair care.

Assist with dining and transportation needs.

Escort residents and coordinate transportation within the campus.

Conduct resident rounds and room checks.

Assist with laundry, housekeeping, bed changes, and maintaining clean and comfortable resident rooms.

Participate in resident-centered activities and programs.
Provide Leadership & Support
-
Help coordinate daily assignments and shift coverage for Medication Technicians and Resident Aides.

Oversee daily tasks and provide guidance to Medication Technicians and Resident Aides.

Serve as a preceptor and support new team members as they learn their roles.

Assist with scheduling overtime and additional shifts while working with leadership to maintain appropriate staffing levels.

Help ensure staffing remains within established budgets.

Assist with completing and tracking Resident Assessments and Support Plans.

Manage, track, and order resident supplies.

Serve as the facility designee when the Administrator, Manager of Resident Services, or other nursing leadership is unavailable.
Be a Trusted Resource for Residents & Families

Help residents and families navigate and manage healthcare needs.

Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, families, physicians, and coworkers.

Protect resident privacy and confidentiality and advocate for resident rights.
-
Recognize and appreciate the unique experiences, heritage, values, and wisdom of each resident.
Participate in On-Call Responsibilities

Rotate weekend on-call responsibilities with clinical and administrative leadership. (For WOW employees, on-call days will occur during the week.)

Respond to calls from the on-call phone and provide direction and support to residents and staff.

Assist with coordinating resident care remotely and/or on campus when needed.

Respond appropriately to emergency and disaster situations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
3–5 years of experience as a Medication Technician required.

Previous resident care experience or related training preferred.
-
BLS, CPR, or First Aid certification preferred, but not required.

Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.

A compassionate and resident-focused approach to care.

Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, coworkers, and healthcare professionals.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
