Duties
- Safely operate commercial motor vehicles, including buses, shuttles, or other large vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and vehicle codes.
- Transport passengers or cargo efficiently while maintaining a high standard of safety and professionalism.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, especially children, seniors, or individuals with special needs, demonstrating excellent communication skills.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, mechanical functionality, and cleanliness; perform basic mechanical troubleshooting if needed.
- Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies using defensive driving techniques and emergency response procedures for transportation.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, and fuel consumption; complete incident reports if necessary.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging positively with passengers and addressing their needs promptly.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger or freight transport.
- Proven experience in commercial driving.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and emergency stop procedures.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and handle vehicle maintenance basics.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities.
- Familiarity with school policies, behavior management techniques, and working with children or seniors is advantageous.
- Certifications in first aid and CPR are highly desirable to ensure passenger safety during emergencies.
- Demonstrated defensive driving skills and quick response to traffic changes to ensure safety at all times.
- Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle operation and troubleshooting is beneficial.
