Job Summary
The Village of Haskins, Ohio is seeking a versatile, community-minded individual to fill the role of Parks, Recreation, and Event Coordinator. This dual-faceted part-time position blends dynamic community event planning and sports coordination with vital administrative support in the Village utility office. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, a passion for public service, and the ability to seamlessly transition from field operations to an office environment.
Hours and Compensation
- Status: Part-time.
- Hours: Variable schedule ranging from 16 to 32 hours per week based on seasonal needs.
- Schedule: Requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends during peak sports seasons and scheduled community parades.
Key Responsibilities
Community Event Management
- Execute Annual 5K: Plan, promote, and oversee the logistical operations of the Village’s annual 5K race, including route coordination, registration, and volunteer management.
- Coordinate Holiday Parades: Direct all planning, lineup coordination, and safety compliance for the annual Halloween Parade and the December Holiday Parade.
- Public Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for event participants, local business sponsors, and community volunteers.
Sports & Facilities Coordination
- Field Scheduling: Manage the master calendar and schedule all youth and adult baseball and softball games on Village-owned athletic fields.
- Concession Operations: Set up, stock, manage inventory, and oversee the daily operations and staffing of the park concession stand.
- Vendor & League Liaison: Act as the main liaison between local sports leagues, tournament organizers, and the Village administration.
Utility Office Support
- Administrative Assistance: Provide essential backup support in the Village utility office during peak hours, staff absences, or high-volume billing cycles.
- Customer Service: Assist residents with utility billing inquiries, process payments, and answer general community questions with professionalism.
Position Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in sports management, public administration, or recreation is a plus.
- Experience: Proven experience in event planning, sports scheduling, or administrative office support.
- Skills: Proficiency in basic office software (Word, Excel, calendar booking systems) and a strong aptitude for customer service.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods during outdoor community events and field preparation.
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
