Position Summary
The Vehicle Sales Title Clerk is responsible for processing vehicle titles, registrations, and related documentation for all retail, wholesale, and dealer transactions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, works well under deadlines, and has experience with dealership paperwork and DMV compliance.
Responsibilities
- Process all vehicle title and registration paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare title documents for new, used, retail, wholesale, and dealer trades.
- Submit title applications and required documentation to state agencies in a timely manner.
- Verify legal transfer of ownership and ensure all documentation is complete.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations regarding vehicle titles and registrations.
- Review deals for completeness and accuracy before funding or titling.
- Coordinate with sales, finance, accounting, customers, lenders, and state agencies to resolve title issues.
- Process payoff requests and release liens as needed.
- Maintain organized title files and dealership records.
- Track outstanding titles and follow up on missing documentation.
- Travel to local tag agency, courthouse, and bank, as needed.
- Assist with additional administrative and accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous dealership title clerk experience preferred.
- Knowledge of DMV procedures, title processing, and vehicle registration requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required.
