Special Education Coordinator
Job Description
Reports To: Director of Special Education, Executive Director of Student Support Services
Position Summary:

Assist the Director of Special Education with the coordination and administration of district-operated Special Education programs

Assist with the supervision and coordination of the District-provided classroom and ancillary services, recommending changes and additions as needed

Keeps informed of all Federal and State legal requirements governing Special Education policies and procedures

Provide the district with technical assistance for the implementation of State and Federal Special Education rules and regulations

Facilitate professional development activities district-wide for both special education and general education staff

Provides technical assistance in and implements procedures for referral, evaluation, placement, assignment, and re-evaluation of students concerning the Special Education services program.

Serves as a resource to the principal evaluator of all special education personnel working in specific schools.

Develops and maintains complete and cumulative individual records of all children receiving special services or enrolled in special classes.

Assists with evaluating on an ongoing basis the total special education program, curriculum, procedures, and individual students' needs and achievements.

Consult with parents of students enrolled in the program.

Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development; for keeping current with the literature, new research findings, and improved techniques; for attending appropriate professional meetings and conventions.

Qualifications
Special Education Certification
-
Mild-Moderate; and/or
-
Severe-Profound
-
Minimum of at least 5 years of experience in teaching special education (preference will be given to those who have taught mild-moderate and severe-profound disabilities)
Salary and Benefits

Salary based on experience, based on a 200-day contract
