Step into a meaningful role supporting students’ success as a part-time onsite Behavior Intervention Specialist for the 2025/26 school year. This contract opportunity involves collaborating with another BIS and a Special Education Administrator to provide expertise across 3-4 assigned school sites. Typical hours are 8:30-4:10, totaling 18 hours per week (.5 FTE), with some slight variation day to day. The selected professional will play a vital role in assessing student needs, designing positive behavioral interventions, and reinforcing supportive learning environments.
Required Qualifications:
- BCBA certification or licensed Special Education Teacher (Tier 3 or 4 license required for SpEd Teachers)
- Experience in school-based behavior intervention, supporting students with a range of behavioral needs
- Strong understanding of functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention planning
- Ability to deliver staff training and consult effectively with interdisciplinary teams
- Flexible, calm, and adaptable in dynamic or crisis situations
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult and collaborate with educators, support staff, and administration to implement positive behavior interventions and supports
- Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop individualized plans to promote student progress
- Provide ongoing coaching to staff on behavioral recommendations and de-escalation techniques
- Utilize data for informed decision-making and planning for student success
- Support the creation and execution of individualized education plans
- Help ensure compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines
- Promote and maintain a safe, inclusive environment for all students
- May need to utilize restrictive procedures according to best practices and district policy
