Job Description: CNC Operator
SUMMARY
The CNC operator uses expertise for a range of machining capabilities, including CAM software, Solidworks, and setup of CNC machines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Experience operating three axis CNC machines required, drills, and lathes.
- Verify all necessary lubricants are at proper levels.
- Pull stock before the job has been set up and verify material is correct to the traveler requirement.
- Verify that any documents pertaining to the work order necessary for production are in the traveller.
- Gather all necessary tooling, fixtures, and materials needed for the job per traveler requirement.
- Verify the equipment has been set up in a safe and operational manner.
- Understand how to read production drawings, product requirements on the traveler, and know where critical characteristics are.
- Able to check parts using micrometers and calipers.
- Able to record measurements taken using micrometers and calipers.
- Able to deburr parts while machine is running.
- Monitor the operation of machine to assure the machine is operating safely and is producing a quality part.
- Can make adjustments to the machine according to dimensional non-conformity.
- Report any machine malfunction or safety condition.
- Maintain work area (housekeeping).

REPORTS
Immediate supervisor is Machine Shop Lead, followed by Production Manager. This position does not have any supervisory roles.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Certificate of completion from accredited college or training center in machining. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, including knowledge of the principles and practices of mills, lathes, and CNC.
COMPUTER
Working knowledge of ERP Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, email, and database management tools
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as drawings, safety rules, and technical procedures. Interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with ability to drive tasks to completion
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work with safe manufacturing processes and understands PPE that is required in the manufacturing area.
