JOB OVERVIEW
State of the art gynecology practice looking for an experienced, full-time Medical Assistant. Offering very competitive compensation and incentives as well as a full benefits package. The Medical Assistant supports practitioners and patients by providing excellent and compassionate care, accurate information, high-quality services, and assistance. Promotes a collaborative team environment and always upholds practice values. Performs clinical and administrative duties in support of the practice.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES
- Under the supervision of physician or nurse practitioner, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
- Competes patient intake, medical histories, vital signs.
- Prepares patients for examination, assists during diagnostic examinations and in-office procedures.
- Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection, including phlebotomy.
- Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.
- Manages and resolves all lab related issues.
- Documents patient care provided in patient's medical record.
- Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments.
- Greets and escorts patients safely from the waiting area to appropriate areas in the office, as required.
- Understands and executes physician's preferred treatment protocols when coordinating patient flow.
- Prepares and administers medication as instructed by the physician; this includes the administration of injections.
- Ensures exam rooms are appropriately stocked with supplies and equipment prior to physician seeing patients.
- Clearly communicates to patients any procedures to be performed and provides preparatory instructions.
- Clearly answers basic clinical questions, as required.
- Demonstrates the ability to understand and react to the unique needs of the patients.
- Maintains current licensing and certification necessary to perform applicable job functions.
- Possesses effective time management skills and assists other staff members when appropriate.
- Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
- Maintains examination areas, exam rooms, and common office space clean and orderly at all times.
- Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including scanning, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
- Possesses excellent organizational skills.
- Communicates and works well in a team environment.
- Meets established production and quality goals/metrics.
- Follows up in a timely manner on all open items.
- Effectively prioritizes work on a daily basis.

REQUIREMENTS
- Looking for an experienced hire, gynecology and surgical experience a big plus.
- Experience with EHR/EMR billing components. Experience with Athenahealth a big plus.
- Interpersonal skills, professional conduct, and oral and written communication skills to effectively gather information, ask questions, and discuss problems with internal personnel, patients, and insurance companies
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs and meet required timelines/deadlines
- Ability to think independently and exercise sound judgement

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- At least 2 years of experience in the capacity of a Medical Assistant
- CPR/BLS certification required
- Basic computer skills; keyboarding/typing, WORD, EXCEL
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Athenahealth a big plus.
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Willingness and ability to function well in a team environment, supporting excellent patient care
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong initiative and work ethic
- Bilingual – fluency in English and Spanish Required
