Independence House is a co-ed Residential Reentry Center contracted with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Our goal is to help these offenders achieve a successful transition back into society. OVERVIEW:
Independence House is a fast-paced work environment providing front office service support to staff and clients in our Reentry Center. The position entails the monitoring and tracking of offender's daily schedules. Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide general office administration duties, including answering phones and providing general customer service to all visitors who enter the facility.
- Process intake and release packets with all new and departing clients upon arrival and release. Input all data into company database in a timely and accurate manner.
- Check in/out all clients entering and leaving the facility. Perform sobriety testing upon client’s return to facility and complete urinalysis collection according to assigned random schedule.
- Medication monitoring of client's medications and tracking in company data base.
- Perform pat searches of client’s person for contraband and conduct facility inspections and searches of client property and rooms for contraband and ensure clients are adhering to rules and regulations.
- Report writing: Strong written communication skills to accurately document incidents and activities.
- Conflict management: Ability to effectively resolve conflicts and manage difficult situations.
- Must be able to maintain a strictly professional relationship with clients at all times.
- Will also be required to develop and maintain a good working relationship with our contracting agencies consisting of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the United States Probation Department as well as the Department of Corrections.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma required. Some college preferred but not required.
- Experience in the Community Corrections or similar field is preferred.
- Must be willing to work varied shifts, including graveyard shift, weekends and holidays.
- Strong social and communication skills and ability to deal with complex client behaviors.
- Ability to approach all crisis situations in a calm and flexible manner is required.
- Must have solid computer skills and willing to work in an office environment as position will rely heavily on computer, phone, and office equipment use.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook.
- Must be multi-task oriented and able to formulate clear and concise reports and evaluations.
- Must have clean criminal history and be able to pass a National Crime Information Center/National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NCIC/NLETS) criminal history check.
