About the position:
The Crisis Clinician provides rapid, onsite assessment, crisis intervention, safety planning, and short-term stabilization services for individuals experiencing mental or behavioral health emergencies. Responding in community settings such as homes, schools, workplaces, and public areas, the clinician evaluates risk, ensures safety, and connects individuals with appropriate services and supports.
As part of an intensive care team, the clinician serves individuals at greatest risk of harm to self or others or experiencing grave disability due to mental illness. The role focuses on helping individuals stabilize and remain safely in their communities whenever possible, reducing unnecessary emergency department utilization and out-of-area hospitalizations. This position requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to work independently in high-pressure situations, and effective collaboration with law enforcement, emergency responders, healthcare providers, families, and community partners while delivering person-centered, trauma-informed care.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, or Social Work
- 2 years of Clinical - Mental Health Counselor experience
- State of Alaska Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor or eligibility to obtain licensure upon hire
