Position Summary
Embassy Suites by Hilton Austin Arboretum is seeking an energetic, professional, and guest-focused Bartender to join our Food & Beverage team. As a full-service hotel, our bartenders play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere while delivering exceptional service to hotel guests and local patrons.
The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintaining a clean and organized bar, accurately processing guest payments, and ensuring every guest receives outstanding hospitality. This position works closely with the restaurant and hotel operations teams to provide a memorable dining and beverage experience.
Schedule: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Compensation: $9.00 plus tips
During the hotel's complimentary Evening Reception (5:30 PM – 7:00 PM), the bartender will provide exceptional service to guests and serve up to two complimentary beverages per registered guest in accordance with Embassy Suites brand standards.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to hotel recipes and brand standards.
- Maintain complete knowledge of drink recipes, liquor brands, wine, beer selections, pricing, glassware, and garnishes.
- Efficiently stock, organize, and replenish bar supplies, including completing daily requisitions as needed.
- Accurately process guest orders using the MICROS POS system and handle credit card and tip transactions in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Verify guest age and ensure responsible alcohol service in compliance with state and local laws.
- Anticipate guest needs, provide prompt and friendly service, and build positive guest relationships.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, lounge, and service areas throughout each shift.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
- Assist with beverage inventory, stocking, and maintaining appropriate par levels.
- Work closely with servers, banquet staff, kitchen associates, and hotel leadership to ensure seamless service.
- Support banquet bars, special events, and hotel functions as assigned.
- Complete opening, closing, and side work duties.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Previous bartending experience in a hotel, restaurant, or full-service bar preferred.
- Knowledge of standard cocktail recipes, beer, wine, and spirits.
- Experience using MICROS or other POS systems preferred.
- TABC Certification preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance with a positive and dependable attitude.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
