Compensation: $140,000 - $180,000 (Commensurate with experience)
The Role
We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Tax to serve as a senior leader within our firm. In this role, you will oversee complex tax engagements with a focus on Corporate Tax and High Net Worth (HNW) individual clients. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong client relationship skills, and a dedication to managing and developing tax staff. Working closely with Partners, you will deliver exceptional tax planning, compliance, and advisory services to a sophisticated, diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities
Engagement & Review Ownership: Oversee and review complex federal and state corporate income tax returns (Forms 1120, 1120-S) and high-net-worth individual returns (Form 1040) involving significant investment portfolios, stock compensation, or closely held business interests.
Proactive Advisory & Planning: Provide strategic tax planning and consulting services to corporate and HNW clients, identifying high-value opportunities to minimize liabilities and mitigate regulatory risks.
Client Relationship Management: Serve as a primary point of contact, building and maintaining strong, consultative relationships with business owners, executives, and high-net-worth families.
Staff Mentorship & Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate tax staff and senior associates; provide real-time feedback, structure assignments, and actively support their professional development.
Practice Management: Collaborate with partners on engagement management, project budgeting, client billing, and strategic business development activities, including proposals and client outreach.
Technical Research: Resolve complex, multi-jurisdictional tax issues and document findings in clear, actionable technical memos for internal teams and clients.
Requirements
Experience: 8+ years of progressive public accounting experience with a heavy emphasis on corporate and high-net-worth individual taxation.
Education & Credentials: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; active CPA license required.
Software & Technical Skills: Proficiency with advanced tax preparation and research software (e.g., CCH Axcess, GoSystem, BNA/Bloomberg Tax). Strong technical knowledge of current corporate and individual tax codes.
Attributes: Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills with a proven track record of successfully managing multiple client engagements under tight deadlines.
