Duties
- Greet patients warmly in both English and Spanish, creating a welcoming atmosphere for diverse populations
- Manage appointment scheduling efficiently using DENTICON dental practice management
- Collect payments, process co-pays, and manage medical billing using systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth
- Review and update patient medical records and documentation in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including gathering medical history and updating care plans
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, schedule appointments, and answer patient inquiries promptly
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical records
- Support clinical staff by reviewing documentation for accuracy and completeness in accordance with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards
Skills
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is essential for effective communication with diverse patients
- Proven experience in dental office settings or clinics with knowledge of dental terminology and office procedures
- Strong understanding of medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD), insurance verification, and health information management systems
- Proficiency with DENTICON, OPEN DENTAL
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and clinical confidentiality policies
- Excellent customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and strong interpersonal abilities
- Adept at using Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, scheduling, and correspondence tasks
- Demonstrated clerical experience including filing, data entry, and managing multi-line phone systems
- Knowledge of dental terminology, health insurance processes, and medical administrative support procedures
- Ability to handle high-volume patient interactions efficiently while maintaining accuracy in documentation review and office management tasks
