Job Overview
The Martinsburg Initiative (TMI) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Behavioral Health Clinician to provide accessible, community-based behavioral health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. This is a full-time, grant-funded position operating on a 240-day annual schedule. Services may be provided in office, school, community, home-based, and telehealth settings throughout Berkeley County and surrounding service areas. Compensation is based on TMI’s established pay scale and the selected candidate’s education, experience, and licensure.
This position combines direct clinical care with family support, clinical care coordination, brief interventions, group services, and community outreach. The Behavioral Health Clinician will use trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches to help clients address behavioral health needs, strengthen coping skills, improve family stability, and work toward individualized treatment goals.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working beyond a traditional office setting and collaborating with schools, families, healthcare providers, Child Protective Services, courts, and community organizations. As the clinician develops a caseload, additional time will be devoted to family case management, school and community-based support, development of groups and workshops, referral development, and other behavioral health activities consistent with the clinician’s education, training, and licensure.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments, screenings, and individualized treatment planning for children, adolescents, adults, and families.
- Provide individual, family, and parent-child therapy using evidence-based, trauma-informed practices appropriate to the clinician’s licensure, training, and scope of practice.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and update individualized treatment plans, service goals, and clinical recommendations.
- Provide brief interventions, psychoeducation, coping-skills development, safety planning, crisis support, and short-term follow-up when ongoing therapy is not yet available, indicated, or accepted.
- Provide family case management, resource navigation, and practical support related to behavioral health, family stability, and successful participation in treatment.
- Provide behavioral health services in office, school, community, home-based, and telehealth settings, as appropriate.
- Coordinate care and complete warm handoffs with families, schools, healthcare providers, Child Protective Services, courts, and other community agencies.
- Provide school-based behavioral health support, consultation, screenings, and brief interventions within the scope of the position.
- Participate in case consultations, multidisciplinary staffing, treatment-team meetings, and care-coordination activities.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with agency policies, payer requirements, HIPAA regulations, and professional ethical standards.
- Develop and facilitate therapy groups, parent education, psychoeducational workshops, support groups, curricula, and other behavioral health programming based on identified community and client needs.
- Support the implementation of clinical workflows, documentation processes, outcome tracking, and quality-improvement activities, particularly during program startup and caseload development.
- Participate in program evaluation, outcome measurement, and readiness activities related to Medicaid and insurance requirements, as applicable.
- Build and maintain referral relationships with schools, healthcare providers, courts, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in community outreach, public education, trainings, coalitions, and collaborative initiatives that improve awareness of and access to behavioral health services.
- Attend required supervision, staff meetings, professional-development activities, and continuing education.
- Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and professional credentials.
- Perform other behavioral health-related duties consistent with the employee’s education, training, licensure, and assigned role.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
- Active West Virginia behavioral health license, such as LGSW, LICSW, LPC, LMFT, or an equivalent credential appropriate to the services provided.
- Demonstrated skills in clinical assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic intervention, crisis response, and clinical documentation.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, evidence-based treatment approaches, child development, family systems, and behavioral health conditions.
- Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound clinical judgment, and manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, community partners, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems.
- Ability to provide services in office, school, community, home-based, and telehealth settings, as required.
- Commitment to ethical, culturally responsive practice and ongoing professional development.
Independent clinical licensure is preferred. Additional preferred qualifications include at least two years of behavioral health experience; experience providing services to children, adolescents, adults, or families; and experience with family case management, care coordination, group facilitation, school-based services, community outreach, or partnership building.

Pay: $57,359.22 - $69,077.77 per year
