Position Summary
The Guest Experience Associate – Food & Beverage & Retail is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while supporting the daily operations of both Safi Fresh (Food & Beverage) and ETS – Everything Travel State (Retail) at Kansas City International Airport (MCI). This role assists guests with food service, retail sales, merchandise, and daily operational tasks while ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities
Guest Service
- Welcome and assist guests with a friendly, professional attitude.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, making recommendations, and resolving guest concerns.
- Accurately process transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Create a positive guest experience through efficient, courteous, and knowledgeable service.
Food & Beverage Operations
- Prepare, package, and serve food and beverages according to company standards.
- Maintain food quality, freshness, and proper portioning.
- Restock food, beverages, condiments, and supplies throughout each shift.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
Retail Operations
- Assist guests with merchandise selection and product recommendations.
- Stock shelves, rotate merchandise, and maintain attractive displays.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify management of low-stock items.
- Support merchandising initiatives and maintain store presentation standards.
Operations & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in both food & beverage and retail areas.
- Follow company policies, airport regulations, TSA requirements, and security procedures.
- Practice proper cash handling and loss prevention procedures.
- Assist with receiving deliveries, stocking inventory, opening and closing duties, and other operational tasks as assigned.
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional appearance.
- Participate in required training programs, including Airport Hospitality Academy training.
- Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and a willingness to support both business concepts as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous customer service, retail, restaurant, hospitality, or food service experience is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Basic math, cash handling, and computer skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance (badging).
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred
- Experience in airport concessions, retail, restaurants, cafés, or hospitality.
- Familiarity with POS systems, inventory management, and food safety practices.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
