The Department of Human Services' Luzerne County Assistance Office is looking for a Clerical Assistant 2 who is ready to bring strong organizational skills to a busy and meaningful workplace. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This is a full-time, seasonal position that typically runs for 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance. This position provides clerical and customer support in a fast-paced office that serves the public. It involves frequent contact with staff, clients, and members of the community. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

Data Entry: Enter information into computer systems and review results for accuracy

Application Processing: Handle applications, import electronic submissions, and complete file clearances

Inquiry Work: Review documents, complete system transactions, and communicate results clearly

Public Interaction: Greet visitors, manage appointment schedules, and provide basic information to the public

Mail and Records: Sort and distribute mail, scan documents, and maintain organized files

Communication Tasks: Record information, relay messages, and collect needed data

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This position typically runs for 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons

Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

WORK CONDITIONS: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs.

Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part-time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly salary of $18.83 (before taxes).
