Special Education Certification and 3 years teaching experience in Special Education

Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Kentucky Administrative Regulations (707 KAR).

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
JOB GOALS: The ARC Chair is responsible for facilitating Admissions and Release Committee meetings to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate services and support in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504, and Kentucky state regulations. The ARC Chair ensures that meetings are conducted efficiently, collaboratively, and in compliance with all legal and procedural requirements.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Schedule ARCs according to procedures and timelines.

Chair designated ARCs as the district representative.

Co-Chair ARCs when the building principal needs to be involved.

Input data at the school level into the district tracking system as well as the state tracking system in Infinite Campus for Child Count, etc.

Complete due process forms correctly and accurately.

Assist school and district personnel in adherence to timelines.

Assist in document adherence in compliance indicators using Kentucky Compliance Record Review document.

Assists with document management of referrals for individual evaluation.

Maintains professional competency through professional development activities and/or other appropriate professional growth activities.

Adhere to Professional Code of Ethics as established by the Educational Professional Standards Board.

Assist school Psychologists with Academic testing and assist Preschool teachers with testing students.

Have regular attendance and punctuality.

Ability to develop certified and classified staff professionally through effective coaching strategies in a variety of areas: Due process, including referral, timelines, ARC procedures. Least restrictive environments, etc.

Monitor implementation of IEP goals and objectives.

Perform other duties as specified by the Director of Special Education.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and number of days per year set annually by the Board of Education.
